As the name of the application implies, XMiL Exporter exports Things. It exports text information about raw, uncut Clips from Final Cut Pro. Nearly any text information that can be seen in the bin in Final Cut Pro can be included in the exported, tab-delimited text. This text can subsequently be imported into database applications like FileMaker, to keep track of and organize footage on larger projects. Marker information can optionally be written to a separate file, which is helpful to Create relational databases.
The other thing XMiL Exporter exports is still images, based on the markers placed on the clips in Final Cut Pro. The stills are caused to be exported from QuickTime Player, and they are uncompressed PICT files, either in the native dimensions of the clip (with no compensation for Aspect Ratio whatsoever) , or in the dimensions specified in the XMiL Exporter window. The user can control what markers Exporter will make stills for, including text-based filtering.
Additionally, XMiL Exporter can set the poster frames of the QuickTime movies on the finder level. Note that that is different from the poster frames within Final Cut Pro.
